Golden Gophers New York Yankees of college hockey?
I love Gophers men's hockey despise the Yankees and the New York baseball club and my friend called me a hypocrite and said the marmots were the Yankees of college hockey. I do not think this is right. I think the Yankees buy their teams and really bad. Fair comparison or not?
Yay! Another fan of college hockey! This is not exactly the best comparison .... at least not for college hockey in general. In the WCHA just maybe. Although the NCAA championships seem to be divided almost equally b / w Denver and marmots. Woodchucks have a history successful and most hockey players in general, is entitled to come from Minnesota (although not Vanek!: P) I think it's fair to say that because of its history and reputation of the most talented of Minnesota choose to play with moles and other school in Minnesota get the leftovers, so they usually stink. So if you and your friend in Minnesota, you can see why you can compare the Gophers with the Yankees ... even if it is a little ridiculous. So you know ... I like groundhogs, too. 
Not so much though my Spartans. Advertiser Gopher I 05'-06 'and 06'-07' of the team above my desk in my room. Ryan Stoa's a shame this year, but, eh?
