Infrared (IR) is electromagnetic radiation wavelength longer than visible light but shorter than radio waves. The name means "low red" (of America's infrastructure, " down "), red is the color of visible light with longer wavelengths. This invisible band of light warms objects without warming the air between the source and object. The best example of this is the sun. Remember standing in the sun on a cold day.
